Voluntary Reporting of Dynamic Positioning Incidents
Voluntary Reporting of Dynamic Positioning Incidents
January 7, 2016 Comments Off on Voluntary Reporting of Dynamic Positioning IncidentsFor those not aware, The USCG have issued guidance on DP Incident Reporting dated June 19th 2013.
It details WSOG’s, reporting of changes of DP status from “green” to “red”, identify the vessel CAMO, and identify which critical operations.
After addressing any resultant safety concern(s), the owner or operator of the dynamically positioned MODU should voluntarily submit a written report of the incident as described in 46 CFR 4.05-10. However, voluntarily reported DP incidents should not be reported on a form CG-2692 (Report of Marine Casualty), unless that DP incident is also a marine casualty defined by 46 CFR 4.03-1 required to be reported under 46 CFR 4.05. Instead, the report should be sent via email to the Outer Continental Shelf National Center of Expertise (OCSNCOE) supervisor at voluntaryDPincidentReport@uscg.mil using the recommended format of enclosure (3).
Also
Historical DP incidents where, in the judgement of the MODU owner or operator, there are significant lessons learned that may benefit the entire industry should also be sent to the OCSNCOE supervisor using the procedures above
Now, whilst this guidance is for MODU’s we do not doubt they will be transferred over to all DP operations in the OCS
