The USCG commented at the MTS DP Conference, held in October 2015 in Houston, Texas, that vessel owners and operators would not endure further investigation of any DP incidents if they were voluntarily reported and to an acceptable standard.
This is paraphrased from the conference by this websites administrators. This would mean that any sufficiently investiagted DP incident would not undergo further review from the USCG provided they carried out a sufficiently robust accident investigation.
It is also of this websites opinion that the MTS TECHOP_GEN_03 (Conducting Effective and Comprehensive DP Incident Investigations) is not the best the MTS has produced and comments should be submitted by the community at large to assist with improving the TECHOP
